The Southgate District Civic Trust’s objectives are to:
Conserve and enhance the best aspects of our district and encourage interest in its character.
Promote the physical improvement of the area and campaign actively against its deterioration through neglect or adverse proposals. Southgate District Civic Trust negotiates with Enfield Council, local national authorities, central government and MPs.
Support those features of social, economic and physical change, which enhance community life. As well as provide an opportunity for the interchange of views and discussion on local environmental issues by holding meetings and social gatherings.
The following special interest groups have been established:
Local Conservation and Planning:
This group meet monthly, in order to discuss the latest local planning applications. They are concerned with planning developments, civic design, roads and traffic, promotion and protection of conservation areas. Currently members are reviewing the Local Heritage List and campaigning for the listing of Assets of Community Value.
Research into and recording of the history of the district, photography and archives, lectures and visits. Meetings held through out the year.
